Ferry Hours Extended for Mardi Gras Parades
If you live in Old Algiers, you are probably used to the extra traffic as people venture to the area to park near the river and ride the ferry downtown for parades and festivities. The good news is that the hours will be expanded to serve the increased demand.
In general, the hours will increase from February 6 through February 17 so that parade-goers can get back and forth across the river before and after festivities. Remember that the cost of the ferry is $2 per person, per one-way trip. The ferry leaves on the half hour from Algiers Point and the quarter hour on the return trip. There will be two boats — pedestrian only — operating during peak hours. Visit www.nolaferries.com/carnival2015 for the full schedule.
