West Bank commuters heading into New Orleans should prepare for long-term delays. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) has announced a $6.5 million preventative maintenance project on the Crescent City Connection (CCC) that will disrupt normal traffic flow for the next 18 months.
While initial overnight preparations begin late on Election Night (November 3), the full brunt of the project’s daytime construction layout will impact the morning rush hour on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
Key Construction and Closure Phases:
• Overnight Closures (November 4 & 5): Starting at 7:00 p.m. each evening until 6:00 a.m. the following morning, crews will close the two far-right city-bound lanes to finalize the installation of concrete safety barriers.
• Continuous Right-Lane Closure: Once the barriers are firmly positioned on Friday, November 6, the second lane from the right will reopen, but the far-right city-bound lane will remain continuously closed through late January 2027.
• Full HOV Weekend Shutdown: Both HOV lanes will undergo a complete closure from Friday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m. until Monday, November 9 at 6:00 a.m. for preliminary inspection work. Future project phases will require a long-term closure of a single HOV lane.
