September 17 Crime Summit

Over the coming months, our administration will launch a number of initiatives to energize our citizens around murder reduction, including this Crime Action Summit led by Criminal Justice Commissioner James Carter.

This will not be a summit of false hope and unfulfilled promises. This will be a time of action where we link citizens with organizations and programs that can use their help to make an impact on the streets. This will be a time when we remind each other of the needed commitment to intervene and invest in the lives of neighbors, particularly young men who continue to resort to violent lifestyles.

This Crime Summit will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the UNO Lakefront Arena 6801 Franklin Avenue New Orleans, La. This event is open to the public.

Algiers Filming Notification

Dear Neighbors,

This letter is to inform you that on Thursday, September 8, Friday, September 9, and Monday, 12, 2011 we will be filming scenes on location in this area. In order to facilitate filming, we will need to hold parking on the following blocks during the following times:

1200-1300 Block Pace Blvd.-Lakeside/ 5pm, Thursday, September 8-11pm, Mon., September 12

2500 Block General Meyer Ave-both sides /5pm, Thursday, September 8-11pm,Mon., September 12

 We are aware of the inconvenience caused by our activity and apologize in advance. Rest assured that we will do everything possible to minimize the impact of our activities on your neighborhood. If you have particular concerns (scheduled deliveries, construction, accessibility needs, etc.) that must be addressed, please call the Locations Department at the numbers listed below. We will do everything possible to find a mutually agreeable solution.

Your cooperation will help to make this location shoot a success, and will help to support the growing entertainment industry here in Louisiana.

District C Community Meeting (eastbank)

Please join Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer for a community meeting in your district to discuss budget priorities. The Mayor will bring his entire team including all Deputy Mayors and Department Heads, so come out and make sure your voice is heard.
