Invitation from Oak Park Baptist Church

My name is Bobby Stults and I am the pastor of Oak Park Baptist Church. It is our desire here at Oak Park to be the church of the community seeking to reach out and meet community needs and assist where we can. We are excited to invite you and your members to join us in the following events:

A Community Blood Drive, December 14th from 4:30-8:00PM, The bloodmobile will be parked in the Walgreens parking lot at the intersection of Kabel and Gen Meyer. We encourage all to come and make this blood drive ultra successful. Our goal for this is 50 units of blood. Come out and join us in this special event!

A Christmas Season Event – A Live Nativity “A Night at the Nativity” December 22 & 23 from 6:30-7:30pm. This will also occur in the Walgreens parking lot at the intersection of Kabel and Gen Meyer. Hosted by our church (Oak Park Baptist Church) but in partnership with Walgreens and other local church choirs we will be singing traditional religious Christmas Carols and enjoying the fellowship of our community. Hot chocolate will be there and available. Come and join us in this time of celebration about the true reason for the season. We will also be looking to help a family (or families) in need on those nights, so if you would like to be a part of helping these families, let us know what you can contribute.

On Saturday, December 24th at 5:30pm we will be hosting our annual Christmas Eve candlelight service. We would be highly honored if you would join us in our celebration of the birth of Jesus, our Lord and Savior! Come and join us for this special time!

God bless you all and we pray you will join us for these three very special occasions on our calendar.

September 17 Crime Summit

Over the coming months, our administration will launch a number of initiatives to energize our citizens around murder reduction, including this Crime Action Summit led by Criminal Justice Commissioner James Carter.

This will not be a summit of false hope and unfulfilled promises. This will be a time of action where we link citizens with organizations and programs that can use their help to make an impact on the streets. This will be a time when we remind each other of the needed commitment to intervene and invest in the lives of neighbors, particularly young men who continue to resort to violent lifestyles.

This Crime Summit will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the UNO Lakefront Arena 6801 Franklin Avenue New Orleans, La. This event is open to the public.

You can rsvp by clicking here or by calling 658.4900.
