Important News for WBCA Residents

Walnut Bend Residents,

I hope that most of you are back safe and well. There was concern that Gustav would have a major impact on the Westbank, so there was much relief that we fared as well as we did.

Gustav emphasizes the importance of good communication for our neighborhood. We will talk about ways to improve communication at our September meeting, which will be later than the usual second Tuesday to give our board a chance to meet and get out a newsletter.

Some of us have power and some don't. Per the email below from Councilman Carter's office, most should have power by Saturday night.

Councilman Carter has also been having daily phone calls with the neighborhood association president's since Wednesday night. I was able to participate in two calls. The next call is today at 2PM. Please let me know of any questions you would like asked. He also wants to know about ways to improve the city's emergency response efforts.

You may not get an immediate response from me because my computer battery is about to run out (still no power) but I will be at my office later today to review emails before the conference call at 2PM.

Take care and I will try to get more information from the city to you.

Thanks, Yvonne
Yvonne Mitchell-Grubb
President, Walnut Bend Civic Association
